Indeed I do need a horn. I've always fancied one that replicates the sound of a bull. As a child, I used to go all over Europe during the school holidays with my uncle in his truck. They were quite common in the early 80's and there was no finer sound when going over the Mont Blanc. Halcyon days my friends!

It seems looking at that horn tonight that is has a 2 pin plug in the loom and the mating plug on the horn
my van which as also e reg has a horn with two seperate spade tags

it also seems from swapping the stalk the scraping is mostly the tang thingy

So what else did I learn whilst working with Paul this evening? He knows bugger all about dogging, owns a huge pot of Vaseline and is generous with his spares parts. In addition to this, when self cancelling indicators don't cancel it's more than likely because of all the goo and dust that has collected on the column over the past couple of decades.
What I didn't learn is why these brass tangs wear so much, perhaps it's normal wear and tear due to their constant rubbing against one another.

Every lesson learned is a valuable one (especially if garage fees have been avoided).
