Doors all back on today. They all need adjusting but that can wait til tomorrow. Couple of 80-90 mates popped over to do the lifting into place and for a bunch of beginners, we did ok
We had a discussion about the slider roller (mid attachment point, the horizontal bearing/wheel): Does it 'hook onto' the outer part of the rail, as in the picture? ie, the whole wheel doesnt go INTO the rail, if that makes sense...? :-
All in all, a good day. Weather permitting, first topcoats goiung on tomorrow

...cheers mm. Now I just need to adjust the doors. Started to do the tailgate today, then gave up! Are the little 'gaskets behind the hinge (allen key fixings) actually needed. They are preventing me from loosening the bolts and simply sliding the tailgate over to the right. I think its because of the new paint, ho hum. I wish there was a step by step WIKI on correctly adjusting tailgate / slider / cab doors
Still, am happy with the first of two topcoats that went on today:

Not quite matey. Getting van home tomorrow. Still have various bits to refit (bumpers being sprayed / fridge vents / handles etc). Also not doing topcoat on sides for a month or so. Give base coats time to harden properly then will be able to flatten back and roll a final coat on
been a bit of a minor marathon this has

Brought the van home today. What a task that was, hard work but enjoyed it. Had some (very welcome) help from some fellow 80-90ers during what amounted to a total of 129hrs work
Still a few last jobs to do, not least of which will be the final (sides and rear) topcoats. This will have to wait for right temperatute and weather as the workshop that I borrowed is back in full use now. Really grateful to my mate for the loan of it
Last jobs include new window seals and replacing fridge vents etc. Following a recommendation from a restoration firm I've used some aluminium tape to give the (cut/sawn) edges some extra protection following the Vactan and Rustoleum treatment. Should help even more to keep any rust at bay:
Slider window:
Fridge vent hole:
So that ends (almost) this sage of the roller painting. If you're thinking of it...give it a go (get the dvd...see the WIKI) Very rewarding, especially when you are radically changing colours!

Deffo new window seals. If they're old, they can break up and ruin paint (streaks). I'm not sure if theres a paint-on stabiliser for window rubbers but I do say (on DVD too I think) that old rubbers can haunt you with a new rustoleum coat.
Still, it must be over 6 years since I first showed how to paint with a roller and despite the odd knock, the paint is holding out well on mine. To be fair, ten years isn't bad for any paintwork.
Nice job by the way
