That's the weird thing though - when I go to the engine cold, no leak. If I remove the header tank cap it starts to dribble from under the crankshaft pulley.

If you let air in it will leak if it can..

just fix the darn leak and stop being paranoid

These newfangled water cooled engines are a minefield. I was much more comfortable with Aircooled

No they ain't ...your just unfamiliar and a worrier.
you have tried tightening the clips?

The leak is lower down, on the pipe itself I think. It looks rotten from what I can see.

I do worry a bit
