Not really sure, im busy at work all next week. Then after that ill have a good look and try and fix it. Its getting me down at the moment tho, every time i go somewhere i worry the Aa will be bringing us home. Its taking all the fun out of it. Dreams of driving round Europe seem a long way away!

My engine was well goosed or so I thought. Took it to a bloke that really knows and he set it up, replaced a few things and now runs sweet. Cost me £100. Don't write it off yet.

I need a good mechanic in the west Midlands area. It was at Volkstop in Penkridge about two weeks ago with engine issues. They did a great job on the brakes and didn't charge the earth. but surprised its gone again so soon, So i think i might try somewhere else this time.

My van currently has no engine, EliteVw phoned today to say some extra parts were needed to get the new engine running sweet. Well he said he had a list!!' An extra £500 and they asked for the money for the parts upfront. That better be it, my bank is now empty. New total £2200 for re conditioned engine with fitting.

So Elite want an extra £500 to get the new engine running sweet".Didnt no Elite supplied new engines but reconditioned engines . That means using your tinware carbs or injection and other auxillary items that are still servicable and recondition worn parts in your engine or an exchange unit .Before you shell out the extra £500 ask the for the list of parts and put it up on here so we can have a look at it. Looking on the elite web site cost of an exhange 2ltr Aircooled engine £950 + £150 fitting charge. So why £2200 and extra £500?.Wish you luck.

I did have a list of parts needed, there was allot. There was a £300 recovery cost to collect the van from wolverhampton > London and back. Not sure what i can do now, learn a lesson and pay.

M.O.T due, I'm gonna try and take the van tomorrow for its first test under my ownership. Fingers crossed, not too worried as its a solid van with lots of new bits (inc. re conditioned engine) fitted this year.

It's time like this I am glad my 1980 Devon had a recon motor when I bought her. I do however have serious rot issues and have ditched the interior!
