Well got into the rest of the nsr.
adding the small bits in the way they were originally fitted, i have made slight allowance for ease of doing it :wink:
base tray spotted in ,i wont bother running a disc over the spots as there are not too offensive :D

so now thats in i can work the rest around it.
these are the 2 bits at that the rerar wing and 1/4 panal fix to

this side now done, it will need a trim back to fit snug to the outer panals, easier to cut off then add back
Now i have purchased :shock: a lower rear 1/4 repair part,,,,,, i use the word 'part' with reason.actualy its not too bad and if you dont fancy making one yourself then these will do the job, they fit from just under the lower swage (ive cut some off it) and its made of reasonable steel. the tricky bit at the back needs work but all in all for the money ,no issues..

this part is floating at the moment and will be welded down to the base after i have added the awkward little fillet that brings it all together ,again ive gassed it as is my preference plus I think its neat enough to leave with some paint alonne...

need to sort the main inner arch and the front area then trial fit the arch and lower 1/4 then i can make the fillet to suit. hopefully it will become apparent later.
therte is no real need to do it this way . a simple bit of flat plate would acheive the same result.

mm,

Could you post a pic with the wing off before it gets welded if you have one. Reason I ask is that I would really value a pic showing how or if you joggle the original panel before you weld it. I have to do this repair soon and am looking for as much guidance as possible.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but it would help me alot

here is the good, the C post is mint
but the bit next to it is holed through to the cab

this is tricky as i am not able to remove the entire floor to get to the bottom of it so alternative methods

very very quick gassing , some say mig would be quicker,it wouldnt here plus its too intricate as i need to butt weld to the lip

ive run a disc over it as i need it to be flush with the rest of the area as the next bit of inner arch covers it

next we add the new bit of arch

you will see it extends a little further towards the inner rib, this is to give a bit more support to the repair lowerdown, the small flap at the rear behind the lip is not rot,its the reinforcing place that is usually cvovered in 1/4" of sealant :lol: and will be again when im done

Now back to the rear. . as i have now confirmed the correct fit of the main wing/arch i can reference this for the fit of the lower 1/4 as this has be in a certasin position, so i have now clamped it in place to aid fitting the next part, I will add that the lower 1/4 is the last item to fit.

and it slides in from the wheel side and under the flanges i have created

this is its position and it will be spotted through to the lip underneath and also the support box at the rear

all nice and level , the main body of the rear 1/4 welds to both this inner part and also the outer lower 1/4 corner , BUT they are both treated sepparately so you can remove/change out the outer without disturbing the rest of it

and here it is done,

so all i need to do now is unclip the wing then weld the repaired 1/4 paqnal back knowing it will line up and fit with the wing etc . then after welding a lip tom the indide of the wing i will weld the wing to the van then add the lower rear 1/4 corner.
then slider sill/seal and window surround
