I've seen the yellow one out and about quite a bit, always looks impressive and fancied it myself.

I Have recently seen an "original" 14" Westfalia Syncro get "refurbished" that genuinely depressed me to the point I had a sinking feeling in my chest.... That van is not like the yellow one and is not blatantly rammed full of filler etc... Hence the £13,000 offer with the MTDI and full refurb rather than some dog with a depressing "original" engine and is worth 5p....

Jed, i am a bit confused by what you are saying here? is the yellow one full of filler? i saw the movie too when they first built it, and as it was syncronutz, i have always assumed that it was a very solid and straight truck?

Sorry about the confusion I had a quick read on here after getting in from the pub and my post doesnt make much sense

What I was getting at in my ramble was there is a lot of Sh!7 out there and a van being in what looks like good condition or even a factory conversion doesnt necessarily mean its worth more. You could pay lots for a rusty original factory van full of filler but with the Yellow one it will have been done to a standard thats as good as your going to get (no massive areas of rust or filler etc) and as it was built for one of the owners of Syncro-nutz you can bet your bottom dollar no corners where cut in the build even if it is a converted panel van. If I was looking for a new van and had the money, I would defiantly consider the yellow one.

thanks Jed. thats what i thought you meant.

does anyone know what happened to the original engine? it sounds like it was geared for the mtdi which must have bust at some point and that the current aaz was too underpowered for that gearing. does that sound correct do far?

i am just trying to clear things up a bit for RichD.

If that 14" doka with a shagged gear box is worth 9000 Euro then the yellow one seems about right, so sure why not.

€9000 + €1400 (for rebuild) = €10400

€10,400 = £8275

so to get the Yellow one in the same nick as the green DoKa

£16,000 + £6,200 = £22,200

difference there is £13,950 which is more than you offered for the yellow one in the first place.

I love your thinking! :rofl
