Pat, mine only arrived about 2hrs ago it was sent to me on a special delivery which I didn't expect, I should imagine because my original dial with the delicate needle stop was sent back to me in the same packet. I would have thought at £1.95 the rest would have been sent standard 1st class.
I tried to phone to find out but they finish at 2pm on Friday ( poets day lucky beggers )

Mine arrived in the post this morning, looks good.

Any recommendations or tips on removing the needle from the speedo? It doesn't want to budge

The way I did it (and I take absolutely no responsibility for my banana fingered, cack handed method) was after looking at another forum a BMW one I think,
I used their method which was to use two smallish flat bladed screw drivers wrapped in tape to avoid damaging the original dial face one each side of the spindle to "gently" lever the needle off. when I did it it needed quite a bit of welly and I gently levered the needle off the ceiling
Good luck
Paul

Got mine Saturday but not attempted to fit it yet. Wish me luck. Thanks again for organising.

Hi Guy's.

I have changed my speedometer today, and must have made a school boy error. It was a pain of a job, with only one screw fitting point not broken and a number of wire that were not original. Put it back together and speed is now reading 10 mph faster than it should. I'm hoping it's a simple case of taking the cable out and rotating it.

My question is, has anyone done the same and if so what was the solution.

Did you lift the speedo needle over the pin and let it settle on the mark before removing it? There should be a small scratch/mark on the outer edge of the original dail (below the 0 marker) the needle needs to be resting on this when refitted. If that doesn't work I think it's going to be a case of taking it off, repositioning it.
Good luck!

No I didn't, I tried to refit the needle in the same place; resting on the stop pin. That means I need to take it apart again and position it the zero side of the pin, allowing for the 10 miles I'm out. What a basic error, it won't be the last one I make. :run

Thanks for the valuable information.

As the spindle is slightly 'loaded' so it rests against it's stop it is necessary to find the needles proper resting place before removing it. As others have said, the needle needs to be on the left side of the rest to do this and then mark for re-assembly.
Trip meter obviously still reads killometers..

Job Done, speedo reads within 1 mph of GPS. Easy when you know how, or told how.

Thanks for the help.
