Bears further research!!
I knew there was a reason why I was thinking of one support vehicle

would roll cages, race seats and crash helmets not be required by the race marshals?? or is it a run what ya brung event????
I have a v good front rad for an oilcooler and have most of the parts for a chargecooler set up :ok Yes I would imagine raceseats harnesses and helmets are mandatory. We may have a rool cage  We may need also need a gps system but am not sure. Its early days as yet but well worth brain stornming and doing further research then formulate a plan of action. i suppose the best way would to do what we can to Tinkerbelle here and then bring it to the uk at the end of the year/early next year to fitt other items do a thorough shakedown etc prep for bringing it to the continent. We will need to maybe put a website/blogspot together aswell

According to the Reglement pdf.

Helmets ECE Norm are mandatory. Open vehicles must have a roll cage (Überrollkäfig).
If the vehicle is registered as a truck it needs 2 fire extinguishes, if it's a car then it only needs 1.

All need 2 x 6m Bergegurte - I have no idea, it's probably some recovery strop that you dirty types like to play with.

A standard first aid kit (DIN Norm) + triangle + 2 extra brake lights.

I can only offer special parts FOC to the project that would benefit from field testing i.e prototype recovery eyes, possibly jackable sills (if the design is ready) and you've got the time to fit them (weld-in, total replacement, major surgery) along with other machining like exhaust manifolds etc. I can get laser cutting done in small quantities for lower-precision parts.

I completely agree with the common vehicle idea, support must be identical in spec to competing wagon even if one is a truck and the other a van. Forget 16" yes it would be cool but parts supply will be challenging enough without throwing in the rarity factor.

Unless Jes wants to make it a RHD-only team entry

along with all the recovery mountings (eyes) that your working on, i think that paul has a rather special winch mount for you to look at. judging by the video it looks like it would be needed

gonna throw this out there, is it worth considering a sold shaft instead of the vc?

neil

It has been mentioned...maybe not appropriate for this build and not for open discussion just yet

Most of the vids are the extreme course with the mud holes/craters the other one which is new is rally raid which although it shares the same course bypasses the extreme sections and doesn't require a winch I have emailled the organisers, but at the moment they are prepping/reccying the course for the sept leg in the balkans but will get back to me with more details for next year :ok Ian you sound like your contribution would be invaluable and I think Tinkerbelle would be an ideal test bed for what ever prototypes you have in mind :ok

You wouldn't be thinking of heading off on this rally with untried and untested parts would you? Why would you do that?

Get 'em made, fitted and tested before leaving, then test them some more on the rally. Nothing drivetrain performance critical, just ironmngery...
