if the pads stick at the edges in the sliders then they can crack under pressure from the caliper, usually the one on the piston side, but I've only seen it on the new pagid and other pads, which is why I still use the VW German Lucas made ones, they are still available, a tad more expensive, won't be remade so when they are gone they are gone but old stock seems to be good
Russel reckoned the VW ones were loads better than the aftermarket ones

Sounds very plausible....I would say its of no detriment to the pad however, mine pulls up just fine with my cracked and baked jurids!

Fine till yer friction material "lets go" and you end up in the undergrowth :(

4/6 pot brembo's with vented discs would be nice :D

Believe me that's not even anywhere near happening, had em out on saturday afternoon and if there was even a hint of them peeling at the backing they would be in the bin by now..

Brembos are nowt but trouble, those stupid steel bits at the ends of the pads that corrode the alloy and jam the pads so they over heat....not my idea of quality....see lots of touaregs recently with seized pistons and retaining pins as well...good when they are working ok maybe but expensive to fix and need constant maintance, just fitted some brakes all round to a phaeton in fact...£900  4 pads in each front calliper, half of them stuck in and falling to bits...discs looked like summat of the titanic!

The crack happen quite frequently with T3 front pads.
Usually when the carrier where the pad sits is corroded and swollen, the pad then sticks into the carrier and doesn't slide, when the brake is pressed the pad is pushed by the piston in the middle the pad cracks.
However... there is a fine line between the pad being loose enough to slide and too loose that the pad rattles in the carrier.
Pagid, Mintex and Textar are all the same company, TMD friction of Clecheaton, West Yorkshire.
Yes, there are different grades of lining, we have some T4 one here that are the same as OE spec and they are twice the price of the usual aftermarket ones.
