i assumme i the plug is just a flat plate ? i also want to try and use that hole in the block as a vent for the drain to the sump in the future ..as i have read allot about smoking on start up etc .. and i have allways been taught to have a turbo drain above oil level .. which in a std t25 setup it wont ...but thats just me

where i am doing the conversion ... they have lots of spare parts laying around .. its a mecca of conversion parts ! lol

best way to describe it is a sump plug, that bolts up to the block, mine does smoke a little, but thats been when ive had the golf cooler above the manifold so could just be turbo misting, will find out soon lol

Day 1 of 3

Slow day. Took ages to get out of house to mates garage. Then clutch did not arrive untill gone 1 so was not keen on pulling out my engine.

So while waiting for clutch. I did some work on tdi. Started making engine mount plate that I have seen others do. Done it a bit different but will see if it works

Clutch then arrived. So it all looked ok ! So went sod it. Let's go for it !

Then spent rest of evening swapping parts over to tdi

Fitted new clutch

Then fitted tdi input shaft to gearbox and attached gearbox back on

Wanted engine to be fitted today. But late start did not help

Need engine fitted first thing in morning to keep it done in this weekend. As there is lots still to do

Spot on mate, your mount did you weld or heat up and bend the plate?

finishing early today ,as its a friends birthday...

but have made 3rd engine mount , not sure how strong it is , made it from 6mm plate , and roll cage tube....
but should be enough to get me home.

Image

have tack welded a exhaust together ...

now the good news is i connected the loom up and it fired up !!

bad news is it stopped after 1-2 seconds ... not from previous engine conversions that points to immobiliser problems ! ..

i do have a few sensors off at the moment ... so could it be that ? i know it wont help .. but thought it should at least tick over ??

also got no dash lights or ODB2 output so must be missing something ....
just reading over on brickyard , that the ODB2 runs through the imobiliser .. so that could be linked ....

big day tommorow .. lots to do ... inter cooler pipe work etc

Hi, today i fired up mine and drove her home. Started in the garage at 8am and finished just an hour ago, so about 17hours of work. During that time we managed to make the loom, wire the engine, start up, find and remove faults and drive home. Lots still to do, as intercooler is not mounted yet. The most recent view of engine bay:

Yes the OBDII connector goes through the immo wire into the ECU. And other two are positive and negative terminals. If you need i will check which ecu pin.
Starting just for a few seconds sounds like the immo problem.
Good luck tommorow.
