Just to mix it up a bit. Have you tried to find a local upholsterer by visiting the local paint shops. They always have cards or a favourite. You can go and have a look at their work as well.

How many years of experience do they have at traffic trim?

This is what I am trying to weigh up. It's not the tank of fuel, it's that I have found someone local to me with 25 years of experience (himself, not shared throughout business) and done 137 VW campers along with boats, planes and even burried button cushioning in bars. It's whether or not it's worth the hassle of travelling all that extra distance, sleeping in an awning or paying for a hotel for several nights and travelling all the way back if the further distance option has less experience and seems to be of the same quality - (although i have not seen as taxing jobs done with traffictrim as I have the other). Anyway ... I setup this post to try help people find quality upholsterers at the best price possible in several areas and also get ideas on what looks good. Not dispute the quality of a single upholsterer and a single design. Cheers for your suggestion of traffic trim though it's very much appreciate and a possible option . I'm just not rushing straight in to a decision without checking out the quality of a few different companies ... there is going to be more than just one quality upholsterer in the UK and they will all be in various areas which is the point in helping point them out for people looking in the future.

Okay, any updates on the future prices guys i'll update, should have a few more beginning of next week, also have a few more samples on their way and going to another upholsterers in Cardiff to check out some of their work. More info to come!

Nah i've not tried the paint shops - I like your thinking and will give that a go on my next day off! I have found an additional two upholsterers in Pembrokeshire that deal alot with marine upholstery in everything from race boats to cabin cruisers so will grab a quote off them and take a look at their work next time i'm there (couple of weeks). In the mean while i'll have another hunt around Cardiff.

Hopefully the quotes given so far in each of the areas will proove usefull to someone in the future! Have you had yours done?

Yeah, This is how I found my trimmer and I consider him to be top notch. My old man is having his Mini done with him at the mo. He does not have a web site or anything though.

He is as good as you will get much like traffictrim and the like so it boils down to price in the end.

There's a guy up bedwas that re-trims seats + panels etc, I've seen a mini he did in leather + know he's done/doing vans, If you don't already know about him let me know and I'll try and find his number for you. He gave me a rough price of £400 for two cab seats.

I was going to get my front seats done by him, but getting the van watertight has taken priority now.

On that subject ... I find water in footwells every now and again (dripping from under dash), water also gets in through larger window opposite sliding side door, the smaller window above that larger one and runs out from under speaker in drivers side door.

Are any of these common to yours? ... I was just planning on when the seats and side pannels get taken out for re-upholstering, ripping out the dash, going through a car wash and watching where the water runs in and then sealing up the points of entry?

How are you going about it?

You'll find all you need to know if you search leaking windscreen (or something to that effect). I believe there's only one way to go about it really, which is screen out, deal with what's there and a new seal. I had to get someone else to do this for me, but In the time being you could try a temporary solution like suggested elsewhere, using an appropriate sealer under the windscreen seal.

that sounds a fair way to do it, just make sure you hjave avoidable holes closed blocked of and maybe have a mate with you as you really need to be quick and spot the water ingress as soon as it happens els when you have a small trickle its harder to pinpoint the source, excellent idea cal we learn every day cheers

it was priced with a load of other work, so can't really suggest a specific price. Others may be able to give you an idea though, however I may have jumped the gun in assuming it'll be your windscreen seal.
