If you want another specialist vehicle forum to compare with this, try Brickyard, for some pretty vigorous opinions on there about most things.. we are just puppies compared to them whenit comes to expressing strong views
We don't allow replies to our classified ads for this reason but we cannot ban users from discussing items for sale elsewhere. In the case of Syncros, being quite specialist, some of the points made about newcomers and those with little experience getting burnt fingers are well made. There are so many areas that can cost a new owner dearly and are prone to misunderstanding, particularly transmissions and unseen structural corrosion (both relating to being off-road vehicles of unknown prior usage)
The vehicle owner can always come on to refute any specific points... this has happened before and usually results in a balancing of opinion.
Please put your location in your profile, thanks
Hope this helps
Hi....Not sure if Harry is your real name?
I haven't checked out the Brickyard forum, but if its even more anal than this one, its probably not for me! ...so, thanks for warning me off.
I was merley making comment about my observations of opinions from certain people on this forum, whenever a vehicle comes on to the market.
I have read the replies to my observations, and TBH, I don't think that its as clear cut as some would like to make out...Yes, I've seen lots of comments about vans, but I don't think that I have actually seen any positive comments...Never once have I read, "oh that bit looks good" or "wow thats a nice van" etc...Its all completely and utterly negative...a bit like the post on this van, from someone in Surrey, who had highly likely not seen the van in the flesh, but saw fit to suggect the van had sills like "weetablx".
Thanks for confirming that there are no replies allowed to ads on this site, as I had tried to make a comment on a van myself (It was just a van that I had owned previously, and I wanted to congratule the seller on the excellent restoration work that he had done)
What I find very bizzare is this.
last week, a 80 -90 member listed his van for sale in the relevant section of this site, I read the ad, and wrote down his telephone number, as the van was potentially of interest to me. When I had a spare moment, I looked for his ad, with a view to looking at it whilst I rang (so I had all appropriate information about the van in front of me, MOT details etc)...When he answered the phone, I told him I was ringing about his van for sale, but I couldn't find it on the 80 - 90 website anymore, so I asked him if he had sold it?
His answer, No...I need to re-load the ad, as it was removed by a mod because it had an ebay link on it.
Now, I'm not the brightest button in the tin by any stretch of the imagination...But, just looking at this thread, there is a blatent link to an Ebay page, for a van for sale...not once, but twice in one thread!...The vans being discussed in this thread are not vans for sale on the 80-90 classified section, they are from Ebay....Has it been removed?...Err not the last time that I looked! ..Go through many, many other threads in the Syncro section....There are plenty of examples that do excactly this!
So, let me get this straight, because I'm slightly confused!
A club 80 - 90 member can not list a vehicle for sale, in the relevant section of the club 80 - 90 site, that he/she is maybe a member of, if it contains an Ebay link?
Yet, a member is Ok to post a link about a van for sale on Ebay, allow other members to view the ad...then discuss the ad (either in a positive or nagative light!

)
As I said, I'm a bit slow, so please explain to me how that works?...Or, how it is deemed fair and doesn't break any rules of the site?
Thanks in anticipation.
Oh, by the way, please note location duly updated as requested.
