Only other person who seems to have and share any real figures is EwenMaclean with his set up who replied to Elvis's post on alt engines which is where this discussion should be taking place really
I don't know if Tim has any data, Yager probably has but he probably won't share it, there'll be a good deal of knowledge in Germany, just a case of trying to ellicit it and share
Dodoka as test bed

Data collection will be pretty slow, one run out every couple of years

Seems like Elvis's set up works? And works a lot better than the other option of sticking it behind the rear light (he's given you figures), so why p!ss on it? Obviously it won't be perfect, what rear mounted intercooler could be unless you want to carve a big scoop into the side of the van?
For me (non expert opinion) chargecooler is best for our vans, but relies heavily on the size of the rad and coolant pipework. My rad is 26"L 7"H 2"D and the pipework will be 3/4". will quite happily post figures when i get it back.

before 85' spiking at 86/87 when ragged (Spanking it on M32) ambient air temp of approx 7 or 8'
after 55' wouldnt go above that now matter how hard it was caned thr gears ambient air temp of 16 or 17' - thats a boggo standard 1Z on 3H box and 185/14s
it's in the technical section as well.
my last post read a little arsey on rereading, i'm not vexed, promise......

Are they MPH figures? They mean zip! We need charge exit temperature figures .... nothing else proves if a set up works or not.

Chargecooler all the way a bit more maintenance but will get lower temps than any air to air

IMHO nothing can be qualified without, in this instance, quantifiable figures.
My numbers are good, they are real and they work. Anyone else want to throw some in the pot for your installs?
Gonna leave you ladies to your bench racing for the night

Just remembered was talking to Sharon the other night and she was showing off/boring me with her inlet temps, boost pressure figures etc maybe someone in the Uk could contact her and ask?

Morning All! I feel that another reason why some of these cooler installations (intake charge or oil) fail to deliver is that bolting stuff to the engine and doing the plumbing is only half of the job. There is a general reluctance to modify bodywork for suitable air intakes and exhaust vents, which is the key to making them work imho.
Look at any top-notch Jap street racer, Touring Car, Le Mans GT; that's got vents where they work, not for showroom style (early Impreza turbos had fake bonnet vents)
Hell even a look around a new National Express Coach will give you some idea as the engine's in the back and the shape is similar to a T3!

Paul!!!, now that's
not very gentlemanly , talking about a lady's boost pressures, let alone her figures and inlet temps....
I
have contacted her, and am satisfied that everything she says comes with a high degree of verismilitude
After all, Pete's amazing installation work and stunning array of digital transducers leaves little room for debate over these sensitive issues!
Ian...
I am sure you are right, basicaly half-arsed solutions are....
half-arsed!

And how many of them would be discussed on this forum as being 'brilliant' .......
