Nice progress mate. Well impressed with you speed and detail. I've followed your lead and will take a week of in may.

Been a year! Good god that makes me cringe. Unfortunately life took over and have not done any more since then however....

I am moving to Thailand with the Mrs in August for at least 2 years so need to get this into a state where I can safely store her until I return. Progress has been slow with winter etc but I do not want to sell her, she is for life!

So over the next 4 months I shall be getting her to a state where the bodywork will not deteriorate. Unfortunately my only options for storage here in Dorset are on a friends family land which does not have cover. I have a waterproof cover I bought a few years back, and although I have been told it is often not a good idea to use I think in my case it may be. I wont have time to finish it to a stage where I can Rustoleum roller her and although I will cover bare metal I am worried about the elements over 2 years. There will be no material inside to get mouldy etc and am not worried about the cover rubbing against the paint.

Can anyone advise if this is a wrong decision?

Well I found a local welder who has a very reasonable Hourly Rate to help me move along with the project due to only having 4 months left until I move to Thailand! Basically to get it to a state where it will not get worse being sat still for at least 2 years.

Followed MetalMickies tutorial from Kev's thread as it was very similar rot. Unfortunately my donor section was not as generous and so some slight fabrication was needed for rot a little further back. Also my brazzed joint seemed lower than that on the repair section.

Needs a little filler to smooth things out and then onto the lower window screen lip which is not too bad:





Anyway a little happier now these top corners are coming along:) Just need a guide for using filler now

It's good to hear you're keeping the van though. I can't offer any storage suggestions i'm afraid, my van has been in a workshop since March last year being worked on.

Newest progress looks good, looking forward to seeing the transformation over the next four months!

Thanks peter. It's scary how quick a year goes by! I am moving to Thailand with my wife to be on a 2 year work contract, possibly longer. Basically to save a bit of cash for a deposit on a house one day. We love the van and really don't want to sell her so thought best we could do is chuck a bit of money at it and get it to a stage where she wont rust if stored on a friends land with a cover. Then we can do small bits when pop home each year to visit family. When we return TAX and MOT her and away we go. That's the plan anyway
