I agree with the comments posted above but I haven't experimented with different amounts of thinners. If you make it too thin it's hard to apply without getting runs. I presume you are using white spirits as thinner?

Agreed. Needs a flat and polish but that'll be in a few months... no hurry
What RAL number was this? 9010?
Looks good, black roof sets it off nicely, don't know if i could get away with that on my westy pop top, would be too much black i think
Yep 9010

Yes, have been using white spirit as a thinner. What a difference it makes to the 'workability' of the paint. After only 2 days of drying I've rubbed down my garage door with 800 wet and dry, no issues of hardness at all. Can't wait to get stuck into the van.

Not sure whether I ever posted the results of mine here:-
Still love the way that 2 years ago after a bit of MOT welding I touched it up in 20 minutes, no masking and 2 hours before a camping trip
Unfortunately now in the for sale section, and comes with half a can of Rustoleum for future touch ups!

I've now fitted the replacement tailgate. It looks OK but the finish is not perfect by a long way.

It will be OK for now but may yet get a rolled topcoat in the fullness of time. In fact the whole van may get another repaint eventually.

Had to do a quick repair today. This is when rustoleum comes into its own. Repair done. Paint. Forget. Love it!!

Exactly. Spraying rustoleum comes up now and then but you'd be hard pushed to beat a rollered finish if the mix is right and you've become adept at applying it. I agree, subsequent repairs are easily sorted with the roller and its soon dry. In that way it wins out - akin to keeping a narrow boat in good cosmetic order

My brother and I rollered our tintop with RAL4007 at the weekend.
I've never done any painting before so I was well chuffed with how well it's come out. It's only the first coat and is a little patchy still. I'm going to give it a few weeks before flatting back and putting on a second coat.

That looks great. Love the colour! Mine is redder (wine red). RAL3005 if I remember right. The original colour was about halfway between the wine red and your RAL4007.
