van is in garage which is attached to house. not particularly warm in there but warmer than outside

Second coat on. Out of interest , what is the best compound for polishing. I have some auto glym super resin polish which is a very very mild abrasive. Would this be ok?

Try it. I didn't bother polishing out (other than for test purposes) as the finish was acceptable. Depends what the mix was like, the ambient temperature, and your roller skills.

Got 2 coats on and very pleased. I'll rub mine down when the weather improves. So far so good

Quite satisfying ain't it? Quite nice as I've had a few send me pics and seen some great colours. The nice thing about sticking to the RAL range is its easy to touch up in the future.

I've seen some vids of a chap in the us that advocates putting on rust oleum with "plenty" wipes. Same technique pretty mush but you wipe the stuff on. He claims no problems with orange peel whatsoever?

Anyone any experience of this?

Three coats, not perfect , but ready for summer

It doesn't matter if its not perfect. Its shrugging off the weather and if you do have to weld something or get a scratch, it only needs a quick roller to look good again

Stuff gets moved around and deleted (not by me). Quite a few pics in this thread, even if its long.

Spent a while doing prep and started painting today. Quite pleased with things so far, BUT. GLOVES. Yes, need some. Blue nails are not very appealing.
First coat on, weather generally good but the temp has varied quite a bit and I found I needed to thin the paint a little more as the sun shone.
Also, had to mix a bit more, ran out on the last tailgate stretch so hopefully it'll keep until the next coat, well wrapped up.
So the question is, to flat or not to flat between coat one and two? Depends how I feel tomorrow really. Might just not, then leave for a few weeks, then flat then one more coat? Our van isn't going to win any prizes for neat and tidy, but at least it's not full of holes and filled holes any more.
It surprise me how forgiving this paint is.
Oh, another of the original top tips.....load roller, paint big bit then do squashy fiddly bits with much less paint, or it squishes out of the ends of the roller.
And several kamikaze flies around too
