Thanks for the advice, as i dont have any spray equipment i am going to roller it did also get some rattle cans mixed up for the drop sides
will post some picture updates

Soooooo...... I finally started at the weekend! Manged to get one side rust treated with Vactan, a drill and a wire brush attachment!
Really can't thank Covkid enough for putting up the D/L pdf. Using it as my painting bible.
Will post up some pics when I can and will try and document the whole process.
Aiming to have it finished by the end of April.

So going to paint my van well bottom half to start
I got the DVD but just a quick question
What sand paper to use to prep the van first?
The last owner used shaltz on the bottom and want to flat this back to
I have a sander just need to get the correct grades
Starting next week to prep and paint in may hopefully

Do you mean Body Schutz underseal sort of thing?(long time since I got involved with the stuff). If so if I remember correctly it will 'chew up' if you try to sand it. I always used to use cellulose thinners to 'wash' it off. Messy but the only way I ever used. Maybe someone has a better method?

Could be 'stone chip' or whatever they call it these days.

Re Vactan, I've seen someone post on here the other about not putting the brush in the bottle or pouring back into the bottle what you don't use after you've been painting the rust.
I did this on Saturday..... Have I ruined the bottle??

Could be stone chip it's not sticky and been over paint
Just need to know what grade people have used to key the paint work. I see it's 600 for flating back

800 i think. It's in the wiki download.

I have been told 120 then 240 then 360 would that be correct

Just ordered a DVD!!!! "Roll on" the nice weather!!!

Start prepping in April or sooner if weather permits and you can get primer on any bare metal, although I do say that on the DVD. Don't leave it until June, that way you avoid bugs! Oh and practice on some scrap first so you have a feel for the paint. Don't lay it on thick - it will not work.

You'll find that once the paint has been on a long while, any troublesome spots will start to become self-evident but you can deal with them, re-rollering such sections accordingly. This generally isn't possible or too expensive to do if the vehicle has been through a costly respray.

That does look good. Is it rollered or sprayed? I'd like to know how it compares to 2pak paint job. There's been a bit of a debate on the club 80-90 Facebook page about rollering and some people saying it'll kill the value of your van.
