Good luck with it Cooper. It looks like a good one, basic but good. Pity its got no power steering or diff locks but you can add them later if you want. Nice easy 600 mile drive home as well .... flat out at 60!!

Converting that to a RHD would devalue and destroy it

Would say its been resprayed for sure, by no means a bad thing. As at the price your paying you will find rust anyway.
Just need to spend a couple grand fitting diff locks now  unless of course you'll not be venturing off road.......

How much are they?

Is this a done deal, Cooper? Deposit paid?

I'd be careful if I were you. That is the most basic model & will be slow, maybe painfully slow for you if you are thinking Syncros drive like Toyota's.
Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with taking a flyer, I bought my first Syncro, unseen, off the t'internet, having never even sat in one, & drove it home 200miles without an issue. But then it was a top of range 2.1dj  & the money I was paying wasn't all my cash scraped together. If I'd been caught with a lemon it wouldn't of been the end of the world.

I've had 1.6TD & although fairly economical (for a 2 ton tank), and without wanting to offend other owners, driving one, especially as a daily driver, is just a chore.

Under the stereo would be a panel with two knobs on, yours doesn't have this. The main cost of retro fitting the is the gearbox has to be taken apart to fit the rear one, and the diff has to come apart to fit the front one. So probably around 2k. You can just fit a rear one, when the gearbox goes for a rebuild

Maybe..... newby to newby here, you need to slow down a little and do some reading on the internet. People here have been so kind with advice but it seems to me that there is alot for you to learn about syncros - perhaps some googling or reading the WIKI may help you and ultimately save you from heartache later on?

No offence meant by this at all. :)
