As a woman Syncro owner, I spent a year as a passenger and driving other members vans . . . you need to do this so you know what you want and what you are prepared to spend . . . DO NOT BUY A SYNCRO WITHOUT EXPERIENCE!!!
I have owned 2wd for 20 yrs and still have one but moving over to the 4wd is a life changing decision
Through my gained knowledge within the club and contacts, I am happy to be driving a Syncro and love it

Well i get what your saying.
Its good to have experience.
A syncro is like anyother 4wd vehicle.
Whether a toyota pick up or landrover or transit county.
There are going to be expensive repairs at some point.
I doubt its going to be a life changing experience
Well i will learn about it with hands on experience.
And if i hate it i can just sell it!

maybe to someone on here.

I for one cannot wait to see the van you bring home, and then the finished result after the conversion. It will be interesting to see if it lives up to your dreams and proves to be as affordable as you need. Good luck!
As a newby to T25 driving I certainly know the benefit of hindsight. I don't regret my decision to buy the van i did, but have now realised the investment needed to keep vehicles this old girl on the road and in good nick. I am not trying to make a profit on my van, which is a good job - all the work I will have done/already have started - I doubt I will make a profit or break even.
Thinking about the things I want to get right with it - I perhaps could have got a newer van with all those thing done, if that makes sense. No regrets, but there are pros and cons that people on here are really trying to point out to you.
I sincerely hope it all works out for you.

Ive looked up:
£50 flights
But van for 4k
Drive back home diesel £300
Get euro tunnel hardly any money as i have these special tickets.
No hotel drive back in a day.
So lets say £4500 done.
Nah dont want a twin and dont care what side it opens.
The van ive seen has just had a mot a week ago.
Everythings been checked out and body is mint.
PLUS
either breakdown cover or a lot of money for the recovery guy to tow it to a garage,
money for the garage to fix it when whatever pipe goes and you loose coolant or oil or something else goes
another £40 carriage for the bag of tools you need to have with you in case it breaks down (but probably won't have the very one you need)
money for coffee and food on the way
money for a hotel to stay in when it breaks down or you don't want to buy it?
return flight and taxi's just incase you have to leave it there?
would budget for more than £4500

I like your positive vibes
I'd probably do the same and just drive it home. Only difference is I'd take out euro breakdown cover with relay to home. As if you do breakdown without any cover, it could end up costing you the value of the car again to get it back.
AA/RAC card is your best tool! (as I have found out since owning a syncro)

Thats a good idea. I do have an aa card. Fulll cover does that mean i have euro cover?
Well i allways look on the good side of people. Ie that the guy said everything is very good on the syncro. Then if i do get burnt i just swear under my breath lol.

Pretty sure you have to buy some temporary plates if you drive it home. Kraftfahrzeug-zulassungssteile I believe they're called. process takes 2 hours, costs 160 euro and can only be done at special offices before 3.30 on a weekday. You just need your license so it's easy to do but something else to factor in.
