Taking the plunge. Picked up 5litres of white and a half litre of satin black from the main agent in Bury, today. DVD is in the post and prep is well underway. I will post before and after pics when I get time to set up a photobucket account. Thanks for all the advice on here, and here we go:)

With weather forecasts predicting 24degrees over the weeknd will we still be ok rollering the van? I dont want to take any risks if it will ruin it.

Much too hot. Don't do it. It'll dry way too fast and give you a rough finish unless you can actually get it in the shade.

Thank you - it's going from one extreme to the other too much rain so we can't do it now too much sun

IF you were to start painting very early in the morning, as soon as it was light enough you would have plenty of time to do one side of the van before the sun really hotted up (it's hard work doing a full van in one go and the quality does suffer as fatigue sets in). You can even position the van so the side you are working on is in the shade too, if you can

If you washed the van thouroughly and masked off windows, remove trim etc the night before you would be ready to paint instantly in the morning. You could even pre-mix the paint the night before and put it in a sealed container.

Also the bugs are still asleep too.

Martin is at work until at least 10am Maybe I could suprise him and start it!!! We could strip it down tonight and he could use my car for work hmmmmmm I like this idea

Agree with Cruz. Don't paint in full burning heat, thats the main thing.

Going to be breezy this weekend so I'd suggest damping the area you want to paint in to prevent any dust flying onto your paint.

Flatted my first coat of paint this weekend ready for a coat or 2 next week, i have use of my cousins coach garage next weekend.

Not if you do it very early.

The early bird misses the flies

Started flatting 1st coat back today .16 days after slapping it on. Tried on thursday last week but had a little bit Rub up , not fully cured. Was impressed with the finnish I got after initial sanding . Cant wait for the second coat now;-)

I've been flatting back between coats with 600 grit wet and dry.

Is this too harsh as in places I still go through to the original colour after 3 coats
