Hi, I'm about to colour code my bus (T25 1982 2.0l CU with dells) - white roof, white bumpers, pastel green body etc. What I would like to know is if I can use the Rustoleum Hard hat aerosol cans on some bare aluminium alloy wheels which have been stripped?
If you think that paint would be okay on the wheels then would I also need a clearcoat as well to protect the white? Or would a few thin coats of the Rustoleum Hard Hat paint be okay?

Got the first coat on my van yesterday.

Went well but was still a bit windy,
Takes a bit to get the teqnuiqe right but once mastered its a doddle.
Roof was done on Saturday.

Leeving it all for a min of 2 weeks before i check to see if its hardened enough for a rub down and second coat.

What did you use on the roof?
Did you use rustolem or a fibreglass paint?

Yes i did mate,Matt white but looks fairly shiny to me, flatted it back (afer washing a few times ) with 400 grit wet or dry, then washed again .
went on well and hasnt started peeling yet

If I had just a £1 for everyone thats said, that I'd be quids in but sadly never had a pint yet.

Hopefully jambo will be done this summer so ill be bound to get to one show at least. Ill make sure the fridge is full of the good stuff;-). On another note ive got some paint left over that was mixed with white spirits. Ive put it in an air tight container (dont tell andrea its one of her tupperwear boxes ) will it be ok for adding to the next lot I mix in a few weeks time

ANDREA he's put paint in your tupperware box!!

I done the same thing, mixed up and put in a chocolate jar with a screw lid and it was fine to use a month later.

I decided to get a couple of cans of aerosol combi colour to spray in a few of the hard to reach bits, ended up spraying the b piller and front drivers arch, got a way better finish than using a roller with a much better shine, however i also ended up with a 2 tone van now as colour is a completly different colour even though i got identical RAL codes? anyone else found this. i am going to have to paint whole van again i think

There will always be some difference in colour shades with different batch codes.
Hence the reason why cov recommends 2x tins of rustolem so you have some over for touching up.
It's a shame that yours didn't match, how bad is it?

absolutly shocking, am going to take some pictures tonight and send to rustoleum see if they can do anything, colour match is not even on the same chart

That sounds bad, be north while contacting rustolem to see if they have made a bad batch. If you try hard enough you may even get a freebie you don't want to be painting the whole van again.

BTW have you left it to cure long enough? I noticed mine changed colour slightly whilst curing.
