Well its not really mine anymore... the boss now has the keys and has gone out for her inaugural solo drive
We are now an all-T3 household with only one runner!
No pressure...

A long awaited front brake overhaul today. 90 mins all done, working on the drive.
New Bosch discs via BW, Europan stock, happy days.
The discs were ripe, I skimmed them a few years ago...

Er...bloody hell!

Perfect fit:

Pads are common as muck 80's F.o.r.d.

Note the stated disc size, probably what confused me when I returned to the search, just as BW found the proper ones on the latest Bosch lists.
Its a BIG relief to get these fitted!

...and the header tank let go.

Meyle, made late 2010. Thankfully I had a good used one from 2004, also Meyle and better quality with a reinforcing ring in the filling neck.

I would advise everyone to keep a new or known good quality/condition one on the shelf and make sure its the correct one!

Having changed the tank and gone out for a test run, the 8mm overflow hose then showed the white flag, also the o-ring on the sensor didnt like being swapped over to the new tank and was fizzing, so after 3 or 4 miles the tank was half empty!
Details, details.

Have you given any though to the ally ones offered by Rocky Mountain and van cafe?

In a word, no. I can't see the value of a non standard part like that, especially the strange US pressure cap.
Running the SA is challenging enough thanks!

Information gathering. Having a tidy up, only to find out that I have no MAF for the 7A

PS Just realized that it's on the airbox in the back of the 'bullet
Useful tuning info for incresed capacity though. Looks like 200 bhp should be easily achievable

I fear that its the end of the road.
Poked a nasty blister and all this fell out. Bottom of C post is gone, poked some more and I found the trim board inside

Also now have a hole below the offside middle window, offside sill is paper thin, B post blisters appearing, cracks in the corners of the roof skin...
If I can secure sales of the major bits, then I can put the rest into the syncro project.
A quick list:
2.6 ADV 5 cylinder engine, bellhousing, mounts, bar and Longlife s/s exhaust.
20k old recon box by Aidan Talbot (late type case, 4.57 diff, LSD, 0.77 diesel 5th) SA big vented brakes
6.5 x 15" ET30 SA starburst alloys (set of 5)
RHD PAS rack, uprights& late suspension
SA padded rhd dash (Audi rotary controls) and matching heater
Last of all, big window cab doors and slider, glass, rear vent cuts
The hard bit is finding somewhere local to break it, I cant really do it at work due to site restrictions.
Keeping the seats, trim and aircon for my syncro.

It's a shame to see any van scrapped, but at least you should be able to recoup some of your loss from the parts in that list.

I simply dont have the time, funds or facilities to sort this. In hindsight, it was always a bit bold to run this as a daily driver in the UK for so long.
The syncro is getting very close to completion and the Microbus has more value in parts, whether sold or retained.
Its now on SORN so I'll put it in the naughty corner for a bit.
