Lidl have air sanders in this week, are they any good to sand my van down or stick with the electric one as shown on the Dvd?

air sander should be fine. Whats important is getting a key without creating deep grooves.

ok I`ve bought the dvd and read through the thread, I need to start sanding for a key for the 1st coat.
Whats grades should I sand to for 1st coat? 600? 1200? and between coats for flatting which grade?
Just to save me re-reading 130 pages.

I know it's not a T25, but here's my van finished after all of the help I've had from here/the DVD and wiki. Thought you might want to see the final result!

Thanks for the help :ok

Started the final rust rub down, prep and red oxide primer on everything in April. The first coat of Rustoleum went on the main shell in the first week of June (before the van's 40th birthday!). Then it was both days every weekend alternating between rubbing back, painting the doors that were removed and the main shell. 4 coats all round, but only 2 on the roof so far. I was waiting till I put the windows back in before I started rubbing down the roof. All the windows were removed at the start, headlining fitted and windows were put back in on the August bank holiday.

Just need to paint the inside floors and the front cab floor/area and you would never know it used to be yellow!

Looking good termite. :ok Are you happy with the result, as that is the main thing!

Yes, I am happy with the result. When I look at it and think it only cost me £115 for the paint mixed to VW colours, compared to £3k for a spray job, then I am definitely happy. Especially as I have chipped/scratched the paint on the doors a tiny bit during reassembly so I can touch it up myself.

It hasn't had a final flat back and cut and polish. Still a little bit scared of cutting through the paint, even though it's had 4 coats :?
