Wheels were sprayed with HYCOTE Siera beige , easy job! a quick rub down a big piece of cardboard pressed up against the rim to make indentation then cut out a half moon , move it around the edge of the wheel as you spray to prevent over spray

Use a paintbrush for tight bits. Don't overload brush or you'll have runs (in the paint - not in your trousers).
Better to do two coats than try and apply too much. I actually did mine with Hammerite as wheels tend to get a lot more abuse.

Ok update, spent all day saturday, 8 hours solid hand sanding all van except roof. went home thinking i only had to sand roof and wash all residue from paint off on sunday. only to find that sanding residue had basically set all over van. now 10 hours later after washing van 5 or 6 times and completely washing van down several times with loads of clean cloths and white spirit i have 90% of residue off but still struggling to remove from seams and hard to reach places. obviousley i need to completly remove??? all of it before i put next coat on or it wont adhere properly, so any tips or advice i'm completly stumped. help!!!! p.s how do you add pictures so i can add some progress pics.

Hey - this happened to me when I didn't wash it quickly enough when sanding. I found a had to go over it all lightly again with sandpaper to shift it.

My sanding process now is to get one of those spray bottles that you use in the garden, cover the panel I am sanding in water spray. Get some 1200 wet n dry, wet the paper in a bucket of water and wipe on a piece of soap, then sand the panel, wiping of any residue with a microfibre cloth, squirting clean water on the panel if needed. That seems to keep the residue down, stops it setting and cuts down on the amout of water used to rinse the panel and save me kneeling in puddles of water when sanding!

Thankfully I only have the final sand to do on my van now as 4 coats are ont he main shell. Just the doors need a couple more coats to catch up to 4 each and the roof needs doing.

Just wondered if any had any white-ish rustoleum left over? The colour i ordered I dont really like, so am going to try and mix a more pleasing one by hand!

So.. I painted my camper... White and blue... Did an all over coat of White and then bottom half blue.

Started with roller but didn't get on with it so moved onto a wide soft brush which I did get on with

I found that getting the mix right for the brush was a big help and also "working" the brush over areas that had had 5 mins to dry also help smooth it out and prevent runs (although there are runs in places... But roller style still can be prone to runs so not overly worried). One thing I did notice is with the brush you tend to put more paint on.

So going to rub down with 600 grit and try the roller again for the final coat.. See if it's any easier with a coat on. Will post a pic once iPad let's me.....

I got to admit its not a glass like finish yet but I knew that would be the case until the final stages.. I've been using a brush as above and have found it to go on real well... defo thicker than a roller, which isn't always good but not always bad either I've found... main tip with the brush is to keep working it and stopping just before it goes too tacky. I'm rubbing down now and will try the roller again for the final coat.. well pleased though so far.
