I did exactly that in the end. Its only the long pipe from the front to the back that really needs doing as the obviously replaced it without dropping the tank off.
Hence not fixed to the floor or chassis and the weight of the coolant pipes resting on it. .

Great thread there fidget, missed bits along the way as my laptop was goosed. Going to read it all through now. Shame I don't need to do my sills although they're not in as good state as yours, just patched them so will no doubt need doing at some point. Good luck with the rest! Jon.

Well I'd thought I would up dat you all with my latest van related antics, For one reason or another work on the van has been slow but progress has been made.

Ive totally stripped all the rear brakes and replaced everything except the drums as these were ok. First attempt at making flanges on copper pipe most of them came out ok but I had trouble with the ones which went into the brass 3 way union.

which is a definate improvement. somebody had fitted new shoes to the shagged backing plates the picture is of the better one .

Sound proofed the rear panels with flashband and then insulated with thermal wrap



re-fitted all the rear panels





Next up was to attack the seive that was the cab floor.

Got this body cut which was a bit mor than I was expecting



whittled it down to this



tripped over it in the shed for 2 weeks before I got round to making a start today

Heres what I didnt need



was a lot of work but its ready for welding now. Also as the cut is from a later van its got the later sound proofing on the floor which mine never had.

Will get it primered up in the week then welded in next weekend. Then its time to start on the side step
