Rustoleum good for high tops too?

it's going on my Devon roof so I guess it's the same on a hightop too

works great on the old high top well chuffed with the result only on the first coat too. Just hope the van turns out the same tommorow

This gets asked a lot. You can paint metal, wood or glass fibre.

Is there a matt finish in this paint? Not sure I want my hightop all shiny! What have others done and what looks best? - any photos of painted high tops?

Think the original was matt, but as it is a bit grubby, difficult to tell!

Yes they do matt fella - in a limited range.

Brought some cans of the same stuff (rustoleum combicolour) to spray under the roof channels and the harder to reach places

I'll let you know how i get on with it

what i can tell you is allow at least the drying time stated on the can before coats trust me! Ha

We know Applies when rollering too. And don't do ANY flatting back for at least 2-3 weeks.

Sorry for the delay, I used one 3 cans for each side, and one for the front and one for the back. Just rub down and spray on. No primer.
1. Place 3 cans in hot water for 10 minutes. Change the water for fresh hot water just before spraying. Near to boiling is best.
2. The first part of the can has good high pressure, this tails off and half way through the can so swap to the second putting the first back to heat up again.
3. use the first part of the can on the large panels, swap for a fresh can when you feel the pressure drop.
4. Use the reheated second part of the can to do the small fiddly bits like the sills and round the wheel arch's.
5. Spray up and down across a part of a single panel, then spray side to side, this way you apply the paint evenly. then gently blend in fine high pressure spray till the paint on the surface pools and goes smooth, if the paint is orange peely you need fine spray from a new can to add more paint. this has to be done in a minute or so of first paint, so dont do too big areas.
6. Spray one panel at a time using the seams and swage lines as natural places to stop spraying.
7. keep going as the paint will dry after about five minutes, joining two sprayed areas whilst the paint is still wet will create a seemless join.
8. dont worry about runs, they can be flatted out and polished after about 2 months of drying. (not joking!!)
9. you cant do this in windy conditions easily, wind will blow the paint away and you will use more.
10. Wait three years and polish!!!

So just one coat via the rattle can route as opposed to building up 4 layers with a roller?
