yes. but internally before I close the sill with the floorplates, sometimes i also run a bead of brazing down them as well but its not essential

Well had an enjoyable time this aft, pitty xmas will get in the way for a few days but there is eating to be done and mass to attend so....
finnished welding the lower side panal in place, the rot went to just shy of the swage thankfully as it saves me having to set too and make the whole bliddy lot.
first part of closure made ,the curved lip at the top of the picky sits up against thge B post and is sealled not welded

rear half made and drilled ready for spotting through, use a scribe to mark the linne for drilling as it looks better. i have spaced the drills by eye as its not critical here and wont be seen

and sat in place onto the first part, the swaging keeps the two parts the same relative height, again its not critical but its how vw did them when they didnt want twin sliders on the std floorpan

picky is a lot easier than trying to describe stuff
double spots on top of the inner sill

and there you have it

if your doing welding and stuff then buy a pair of these as it saves ages measuring and stops you using your pinky end as a guide down the side of sharp cut metal , which im still guilty of....

no, but its funny how the pile looks bigger than if i dumped the new bits onb the floor, gonna run the grinder over the spots in the morning and apply a little "product" over the bare metal.

Well ,sick of hols.
decided to sort and finnish a few odds ready for doing the o/s front arch and step ,will be the whole side done then
this pick is from inside looking through to the osr wing and showing the spot penetration as i welded the lip I added to the underside of the inner arch, in this case I had cut back all the bad bits and added a small piece, so no rust issues here, will treat and dynax it

did loads of other little bits and insured the sides where true and straight along their length,
the lower flange of the wing i drilled 4 x 8mm for some decent spots through to the strip I added earlier

got a really good bite
then to neaten it off i tap the bottom part over as you see starting , this when done and after a soft pad over the welds to be as near as I can make it to the factory look

boring but necessary

you may just make out the very slight curve to the lower middle panal,this is looking back rearwards.

got a bit missing at the rear too

cut the rot out and make a new part


gassed it in, there is a little deformation at the top but it joins just below the rear stiffner so will leave it as it is

curvature is about right enough

with a quick coat

lip here now folded and coated

right going to go try find the rest of the picks and chasnge from p bucket as this new version is pants

under the bumper, but you get a glance of it from afar,,me, I klike to know theyre right though on my own van i have removed them on both sides to no real detriment IMHO
