Well today hopefully is the day that the crewcab is going in for a MOT, as I finished off the final three jobs last night.

The mechanic is collecting it this morning and has a last of a few small jobs to undertake as part of the MOT preparation, but fingers crossed by the end of the day she will have a clean bill of health and ready to be driven legally.

OK she will be a bit of a running project for the next couple of weeks before she goes to France but nothing serious.

I will post up tonight if I am a happy bunny or not.

Yeh, best of luck with the mot mate- re linkage bushes, try just kampers theyve got the rear / mid and front onion plus the correct gators. I changed all of them on my bus and it made a significant difference.

Got a real surprise as went into Manchester Van Centre and the full front gearchange repair kit was only £35+vat, so for once genuine part cheaper than non-genuine.

Got mine direct from VW too. Also got the last of the centre bush and the rear was nil stock which is why I mentioned JK. When you change the front onion check the wear on the pin just before it gets to the threaded part. The wear here I think plays a big part in the sloppiness of the linkage overall. Take it you've got bentleys and the relevant set up measurements?

I will check the pin.

Have got bentleys, but a lot of swearing, banging my head on chassis usually helps me sort things out.

Mechanic today informed me he is rebuilding back brakes after replacing both rear cylinders and he is hoping to MOT it tomorrow. This MOT is like the Holy Grail at the moment, I just keep finding it out of reach. Hopefully it will be completed tomorrow and the bill will not be too big from my mechanic.

Still trying to get a rasonable price for the 5 bar alli plate for the load bed at the moment. Aliminium warehouse is best for material, but getting cut and bent after is proving difficult.

Ordered my Alli plate to be supplied, cut and bent and I go and collect it on Friday.

Alarm has arrived and ready for installation.

Awaiting a steering wheel from a ebay seller.

Purchased a stereo of Ebay, cheap VW gamma unit, will do for the time being.

Some more carpet hopefully being sorted today.

Going to have a go at installing my caravelle three seat tonight hopefully.

Worst news of the night, I am not going to Bugjam....Booooooooooo, due to the fact that next Friday I am off to France and won't see my kids for three weekends and hence this is the last weekend I will see them.

Best news of the night, called in to see mechanic and he was just getting rear lights sorted, changed front indicator bulbs and it is going for an MOT today. Again the Holy Grail, but I told him to text me if it passed.

I now have one week tomorrow to shake it down and find any faults before setting off on the epic journey.

Tell me about it, I told my mechanic to text me this morning after he had MOTed it, so every text will make me jump and read in anticipation.

Got the insurance sorted out now, so it could be taxed tomorrow and out on the streets tomorrow night for a first shake down drive.

I will post some picturs of it tonight after I have called at my lockup as although the load deck is not finished or interior is not finished the mechanics of it all are.

All is not well.

The engine has learned some nasty habbits already as it is learning to run. It has a very bad flat spot when you blip the throttle and a very slow responce in the revs. It stalls when hot and the rads are still cold.

I am going to ring a local rolling road tomorrow and see if they can get it on and do anything with it. I may even have to pay to get the brain remapped.

Apart from that, it is being taxed tomorrow and it is then fully road legal.
