Cheers itchy.
Do I need gasket sealant for the inlet manifold before I bolt it to the heads?
The old one seems to have had it, I've just spent 20 mins carefully getting it off

I didn't use sealant but I did use fresh elring gaskets with well cleaned surfaces and a smear of grease.
Sealant can't do any harm but often hard to get appart if future.

Thats because it's a late VW recon, it has polish cast heads, you can see ....LAND

Pierburg is in..!!
I have it bolted in place, coolant hoses connected and return fuel line on.
Fuel feed to the fuel pump isn't on yet, as my fuel pump has what appears to be an 8mm pipe, so I am waiting on a reducer to arrive that brings 8mm down to the 6mm that I think is needed.
Any way.
Next question for you all.
Solex only had 2 wires from the wiring loom. The Pierburg has 3.
The manifold heater is easy enough to see where it goes, and going by the past posts here I think I can see where the two from the loom connect to the carb.
That leaves just one:
The past posts here seem to suggest splicing into the manifold heater wire from the loom.
I want to make sure I get this right, so pointers appreciated.

Hahaha - My photography skills were under pressure - I had 30 seconds to take it before dashing off to work
I will re-read page 8 tomorrow and get this all squared away ASAP.

I must be a numpty.
So, is the manifold heater that is `Thermoswitched` supposed to connect to the same circuit as the `Thermoswitched Throttle Body Heater?`

Beware the two circuits for the engine ( ignition +12v and thermally switched 12V) are not fused, It's an engine fire waiting to happen IMO when the wires degrade but VW didn't fuse them.
If your wiring isn't tip top you could be in trouble ( I have seen the loom melted on a van because of a short)
I fitted Fuses in the black box.

That should be simple enough to do.
I will need some of those plastic spade connectors too - yellow ones in your pic, but colour is irrelevant really - and will need male and female ends.
None on Brickwerks site, so where is a quality source to get them?
( I don't want any that will rot and crumble in a year. )
Oh - I thought as you have put so much input into this, I would share something that will make you laugh:
Yes, that is my bleed rail you can see - and yes I feel like a right muppet being so heavy handed with it....

The colour of crimp-on connectors isn't irrelevant, the colours depend on the size of the hole for the wire. Red, blue, yellow in ascending size. You want the wire to be a snug fit otherwise it will be a poor quality connection.

Do you have quality supplier that you are aware of?
I want some that are going to withstand the conditions of an engine compartment without rotting away and crumbling prematurely.
( I'm guessing people wouldn't just pop down to Maplins for these. )
