Brilliant, some very nice sheds there. I haven't got any further than playing with designs for mine in SketchUp

You wouldn't get this kind of thing across the pond...
No offence meant to our Transatlantic cousins...#ahem# it's just that you can, well, you know, get a bit, er, "particular" about topic relevance (stop digging now man, before they notice!)

Heres "La Petit Maison de la Arbre" built 2005-ish:
I promised the kids a tree house when we moved, but no tree (next door has the big tree) but I knew a man at RHS Wisley...in due course a 5m, 200mm dia pole comes my way

It was a corner post from the 150th anniversary Pagoda that was dismantled the previous year! It's Douglas Fir, so it won't rot for a very long time thanks to the dry ground in the corner of the garden.
There's ~1200mm set in concrete below grade with radial ground anchors, the platform is 1500mm above grade and around 3m diameter. I didn't make the steel brackets but did all the chippy work. Usual refinements: ply lined, trapdoor, seasonal wasps nests under the waney edge
It is entertainingly twisty and springy

but hasn't shown any sign of movement and yes, it is an octagon.

Anyone want this thread splitting into two; It's snowing and 'My Very Own Natty' ?
Could move to General also, if so desired

That is smart, can you post some more photos of the construction - Swimbo would love something like that on her allotment.

Gets my vote. Let's call it "Shedology" as I for one have no idea what a Natty is...
