I read the thread on the Hayling Forum about that. Typical attitude of a certain type of hayling islanders really.

Havant council told me my van is classed as light goods which means I can camp for free, which was nice.

This kind of attitude really gets me miffed.

On the continent they do the exact opposite to encourage local tourism etc. Why campsites seem to think that they might be massively losing out from a few vans parking on a sea front with none and/or limited facilities is beyond me. I wonder sometimes whether the campsites are used as an excuse for just making some money out of an opportunity.

I mean really, how much business is it really losing them. Campsites in this country are a joke, one of the main reasons i got into wild camping is the extortionate prices for an overnight stay added to the fact that they are rarely in a convenient location for actually making any monetary contribution to the local economy.
