Thanks for this, I'll have a good look over it.
Anyway, my fault is intermittent. It occurred on Christmas Eve, then it didn't return until recently, and it's only occurred twice on two 40 minute drives. when it occurred at Christmas, I drove with it hiccupping for nearly an hour and a half, but after I stalled at a roundabout, and then stopped in the nearest car park it miraculously went away, only to return earlier this week. So I am tempted to think that it's real Vanagon Syndrome. But I've got to be careful with whatever I do, Honoria is my every day car as well!!

here is a useful link it shows a step by step refurb for the afm. from what i read over a good few nights the syndrome is quite rare and very intermitant if your getting a regular fault then i would look else where first
