What are the uk laws on sleeping in a van parked on the road.

For example; a couple of years ago my friend and i slept in her camper after a nye party. We parked up on a quite residential street.

Is this legal?

Sorry what i meant was can i park up and sleep in my van camper? Not under the infulence at all.

10 minutes flat, traffic free stroll into padstow. Pasties, pubs, beaches, fish and chips, ice cream, coast walks, cylce the camel trail, crabbing etc etc etc.

Set up the van and leave it. What more could you want from relaxing holiday

To get a better response to your question, why not start a thread on the subject? More people will then see it. Not many people will see your question if it is asked randomly on another thread dealing with a totally different subject. (This is sometimes known as spamming.)

I don't see a problem with parking up on a street/road and sleeping in the van - the main things I think about are:
Am I disturbing anyone? Usually not, I don't have my music blasting out, I try not to be constantly opening and closing doors.
I try to park up reasonable early (before 10pm) if it residential
Not leave any rubbish - the leave nothing but footprints ideal!
Check parking restrictions
Avoid dodgy housing estates

I can't find it at the moment but I've read that if there are no parking restrictions, you can park up for a maximum of 28 days. Quiet horrifying that someone undesirable could park a big "motorhome" outside my house for a month without me being able to do anything about it!

Of course, it's no pleasure trying to get to sleep if the neighbours are banging on the window or police are trying to move you on, even if you are in the right. So I usually follow Louey's advice and try to make myself blend in as much as possible. Live and let live as they say. Generally if you are not upsetting people they won't notice you.
