Hmm... I tried to post som pics from Picasa web albums, but only get an error message about "being unable to determine size". I've never had problems with posting images like this before. Are there any issues related to Picasa Web albums?

The pictures are on the norwegian thread, on page 2. But I would like to post here directly.

Anyway, here is a link to the picasa album:

Is it actually not possible to link to images from picasa?

I work at ConocoPhillips in Tananger so just let me know when you're out that way and I'll bring my "concourse" condition Westy Syncro :rofl

Finally... By channeling arcane powers, links directly to my picasa album are now working. A bit of a work around, though.

These pictures were taken prior to my acquisition of this marvellous vehicle. There haven't been that many changes, but still some. The Oettinger fog lights are gone and replaced by a SA grille. If I can get hold of new ones, I think I'll put them on. The "lip" on the top grille is also gone, and quite likely not coming back. I am personally not that fond of it. And, of course, summer wheels are off.

I find that I lack the proper terms for a lot of car specific things. Hope you can bear with me, and I'll try to pick up on it as I go along.

And here are some pictures taken by myself yesterday. Apologies for the light, but daylight hours are not on my side this time of year.

Jæren Syncronauts? Hvabehager? Tror snart det er flere rogalendinger på Club 80-90 enn det er på vwbus.no

Takk, takk. Godt fornøyd med kjøpet. Får bare håpe jeg blir like flink å passe på den som jeg var til å kjøpe :D

Eventhough I am very satisfied with this purchase, the car is not in mint condition. Several issues must be attended. Despite my lack of proper terms, I hope I can make myself properly understood here.

Vibrations
Something is vibrating, and I don't know what. The vibration frequency is too high to be just unbalanced wheels, and it increases and decreases proportional to the driving speed. I suspect something related to the ...propshaft? (the shaft between the gearbox and the front differential) According to receipts and statements from the previous owner, this shaft has been properly balanced. Which leaves me with bearings and stuff.
The vibrations are not severe, and I just might not have cared if it was on the other syncro. But on this, I want away with it.

Idle RPM
Not stable when cold. Varying several hundred RPMs. And even though i actually like the sound of it somewhat, it is not practical when driving in tight spaces and starting uphill etc.
The sensor from the power steering is not connected, and as I understand it, this compensated for the power requirements when operating the power steering. Around one tight corner the engine died as I worked the steering.
The box doing the fine tuning of idle RPM has been removed.
BUT, when the engine is warm, the idle RPM may be dead stable around 850. And as i sat watching the dead stable idle RPM's yesterday, the radiator fan started. Resulting in the idle RPM to immediately start jumping up and down. Once the radiator fan stopped; dead stable idle at 850rpm.

Gear selection
1st gear is from time to time somewhat fiddly to find. Appearantly, this became an issue after the overhaul of the gearbox.

Electric
Not working: Windows, sun roof, eberspächer, mirrors.
Dash board lights for headligth etc. are also not responding like they do on the other cars. I suspect ground (earth?) problems, and that it might be somehow related to the idle rpm issue.

My list of jobs to be done will first of all focus in things to fix and improve. As of now, I don't have any major modifications in mind. I know myself well enough that some modifications will be done, but I dont think it will be anything major. I largely agree with the ideas of the previous owner, which is why I REALLY like this car :D

I can see why. Mind you - my list isn't so much about modifications as getting things back to standard or a bit better. Would love to hear that WBX6 fire up - you'll have to bring it to the UK - or we'll have to find an excuse to to travel to you :!: :!: :D :D :ok :ok

PS Just seen your post above the last - you are starting a list like ours!!! :D :D It is an awsome looking bus though.

I'll post videos of it on youtube, to illustrate the idle rpm-thing. Maybe this weekend. Hope the camera captures enough of the splendid sound :D
