I was just clearing out the old wheels in the new wheels box from the back of the van and found a bubble wrapped bag underneath a load of packaging that the wheel fitters clearly missed, the bag contained a full set of tapered nuts and bolts......DOH!
There is a taper on these wheels and the "new-found" nuts and bolts fit the wheel holes much better,
I have fitted these and took "Hackney" down to ATS for some new rear tyres as both rear tyres appeared to have slow punctures..... I got them to check all the wheels over and to torque them all up for me.
It drives fine and I feel better for having the "propper" nuts/bolts etc fitted.
Thanks for pointing this out / scaring me "pooh"......
I will continue to keep an eye on the nuts weekly just in case!
Ta Paul.

Don't sit comfy yet
What weight can these wheels carry, regardless of what seating the bolt holes are? (they don't even look like they have a taper seat in the picture)
Your van is quite a heavy beast

Agreed, they don't look like they have the usual taper in the picture
Suggestion = find someone else with taper nut / stud wheels and compare them to yours.
This page on Brickwerks shows the 2 types and clearly show the taper / radius bit that needs to match up with the taper / radius detent in your wheels. =

If theres enough meat on the wheels couldnt you have the bold holes machined to take the said bolts? Just an idea, nice looking wheels .

Agree with what others have said as the contact area between bolts and wheel will be seriously reduced. I had an issue when I fitted steel Merc wheels to mine but it was only a slight difference and repeated removal/refitting eventually cut the wheels to provide a good seat but yours look flat. Double check how much contact you're getting as alloys can fracture/crack and they go through a lot of stress whilst cornering etc.
Looks like you've sussed it though.

I've kept the wheels on and started driving the bus around more now (sent my company car back 6 months early and gonna use Hackney full time), there seems to be no movement with the nuts and I check them every weekend, just returned from camping at Cromer to watch the new years fireworks.....my mate has and old splitty so him and his partner joined us until bedtime as we have "central heating (propex)"
Happy new year to all on "80-90's"
