new head gaskey - the best quality you can find- poss a brickwerks if they have them! - last resort a gsf one unless they have a branded one.

new head bolts , would also get the head flat tested , also test the block for flatness- make sure both surfaces are spotless before refit

make sure you note the head gasket thickness, and fit /purchase the appropriate one.

was the cooling system good without fault before strip down?

1.7 engine is much improved over the 1.6 which seems to be a very basic diesel engine.
1.7 has under piston oil spray jets ect and seems to be the engine that hyper miles if looked after, although not the fastest for todays traffic maybe

Gasket on its way! Got bolts already.
Gsf cant get the 1.7 gasket any more!

On the cooling system side i dont have a clue as i bought the van knowing headgasket had gone. Ive got a new cap and the rad is nearly new. And no noticeably leaks wen i had it running even tho the system was well over pressure from cyclinder leaking thro headgasket.

It wasent as slow as i was expecting wen i took for a drive round the block even running on 3-3.5 cyl
Should be good if it all goes to plan.

Anyone have or know were i can get the torque settings/angles and sequences??
Cheers

presume your having the surfaces flat tested , and /or the head skimmed?

what thickness gasket are you using?
