i get between 28/30 mpg at 65 mph the engine is modified so i dont need to rev it very hard to get it up to speed certainly loads better than my 1.9 wbx

our holdssworth villa 3 2.1dj averaged 24mpg on a 1000mile trip to germany. now sold
my 2.1mv doka (syncro) used daily averaged around 20-21mpg over 20k
now 2.3 volvo engine again used daily gets a little more than the mv but has more power and torque.

Methinks thats very optimistic too, as posted on an earlier thread, we did 2500mls on holiday in Spain and France in our 2.1 Westy poptop and returned, what I thought was very reasonable, 24.6mpg.

We get about 35 mpg out of a 1.6TD in a Westy hightop. As little as 30 if you push it, but we tend not to.

As he said^^^^^ 25mpg overall is the norm for a long run driven responsibly....that could easily drop to the low 20's if you insist on driving it at 70mph.

Bit of anorack...I tend to write down every fill and the mileage when away....at times the fuel consumption can drop to 21/22mpg (driving in and around the Alsace or Alps for instance) but other fills record a tad over 28mpg (flat long Autobahn stints at 55-60mph)
But
After all the fills and based on TOTAL mileage, the last 4 years away in Europe can be seperated by just 1.5mpg...24.6 being the worst (spent most of the time in the Alps) and 25.9 being the best OVERALL (2.1 MV California Poptop) Mileages varying between 2,200 and 2,500.

I did about 80,000 miles in the Caravelle, and worked it out fairly frequently. The higher end of the range requires mostly motorway work and not going above 60mph, but I don't recall ever having it much under 29mpg. No massive high-top air brake, lightly loaded.

The Doka I've only worked out for one or two tanks, so I'd take that with a pinch of salt for the minute. I wasn't expecting it to be more than 25. We'll see.
