User 'Cate' on here is selling her doka (see classifieds), which has a 1.9TD in it.

Thanks Harry and Diamond, I saw that one after I posted my question. The only part that concerns me is "1.9td Seat Toledo engine, (needs a bit of tinkering and tlc)".
Would that be considered a modified vehicle and hence more difficult to insure?

Two answers to that - its so like the original 1.6TD that you might just 'wing it'...

2) Do what I did and tell Ins Co, they wanted an engineers report on the installation, and got one... and accepted it. No premium hike.

That was CIS, but others may not even request one if you point out this engine is as good as a direct replacement.

Thanks for the answers Harry.

I guess "ignorance" could be claimed? :-)

Where did you get the report done? Local MOT garage?

I see you drive a 1.9TD. Also concenrend on how much tinkering and TLC, but have dropped an email. I've never owned a diesel before. Any pointers should I purchase one?

CIS won't insure a vehicle 'with any modifications' now - change in underwriting policy.

Try Adrian Flux, or Glynwood Insurance.

If you don't weld it to the red-line for extended periods it'll be just fine.
