Webasto Airtop 2000. Fit a remote control and you can switch it on whilst you are still lying in your pit, or use a timer. Van is then defrosted nicely by the time you get out to it. (bit of a bu**er though if your locks are iced up and can't get in )

I've found Webasto's are hard to come by second hand at a decent price. Ebers are also getting really expensive. Which is why I went with a Propex in the end.

Does converting the voltage mean it will require more power to run than a 12v heater?

Oldie could you post a link to the cheaper airtops I can't find any 24v kits for under £799

The German Ebay is good for them but you have to check that they will deliver to the UK and what postage they will charge.

2nd hand here they go for £40 - £100 on Ebay depending upon what is included with it like the pump. You can have a basic system running for £150 or less.

Only very slightly - not enough so as that it would be worth worrying about.

The used units are more desirable if I'm honest.

some questions..

Is there a place to view the webasto model range?
What kw rating would be suitable for a modern van like a T5 LWB?
Is there an easy way to get the pages translated?

I just highlight the text and right click then select translate using Opera as a browser or you can copy the text into Google translate.
German is the worst for machine translation but can be understood, I have just ordered a manual from a Finnish site just using the Opera method - this was very clear.
The selling prices start to rise at this time of year as this is when people suddenly feel that they could do with some extra heat. Spring and summer the prices are low on the 2nd hand stuff.
There are a few Webastos on the Dutch Ebay but not as many as on the German one. They are very rare and expensive on the French one.

I am currently using an Airtop 2000 to heat my Merc which is 20 ft x 7 ft x 6 ft which is quite a volume although this is sufficient for me in sub-zero temps I am about to put a 3.2Kw Airtop 32 in as my daughter is a wimp! I have a couple of 7.5 kw ones that I am working on in the workshop and a 6.5 kw one that I use to heat the workshop which is 20 ft x 10ft x 8ft. These are ex bus size ones.
