They are virtually all aluminium framed and are just stuck to the the roof with Sikaflex/Tigerseal/Soudaflex/insert the name of your favourite polyurethane adhesive/sealant. No need for roof bars etc. Just ensure that you create an air gap so that the back receives ventilation.

I guess I'm thinking of the VW 'standard' high top (as was factory fit on high roof panel vans and used on some conversions such as Holdsworths) - too curvy, I think, to bond a rigid panel to.
