Looks like it has done 1,200 miles over the last 3 years since new engine replacement (last but one owner put it into storage for 8 months as they went abroad), only 450 miles with the last owner over the last 18 months. Evidence of several breakdowns caused by same problem during this time including one in France. :!:

sorry for misinformation we have just double checked and there is one flashing red light (oil light) on dash when it has cut out.

Normal as the engine has stopped... therefore no oil pressure

really feel for you..the 2.1 i am having problems with is as much as a head scratcher and totally frustrating and costly.

i know people say the injection system is simple but some really talented mechanics have not cured mine

has anyone chucked the injection system off called time on the nightmare and bolted a carb on??????

I did ...
But I had a 1.9dg and slipped a 2.1 in... then junked the injection and dropped the manifold on to the 2.1.

yep..

Just to clarify this is a van with a 1.9 DG engine removed and a 2.1DJ engine put in it's place.
the injection system was removed
the existing carb (from the 1.9) and it's manifold was attached.

you see the 2.1 is a long stroke 1.9, that's where the extra power comes from... not the injection system entirely, so the pierburg from the DG is well suited for it, as it's already set up to run the 2.1
It sucks more, squeezes more and bangs more.
I have got 31 mpg out of the carb on the DJ in laboratory conditions.

removing the injection system to replace it with a carb on an existing injection set up is a little more involved

well that sounds okay 31 mpg is pretty good!

extra work to change the injection for carb..is this hard or a case of removing electric pump blocking return lines..wiring????
