indeed,

im confused.

So you think this might sort my floppy pedal out? i dont know what its meant to feel like but im sure the cylinder would be touching the operating rod for the clutch and not have a gap between them. Its as if the cylinder is stuck in if that makes sense.

i took it for a spin after bodging the front caliper and it drove okay, gears changed alright but the bite point was right at the floor as you would imagine with pressure only being applied to the system after pressing the pedal down nearly a third of its travel. hope i dont need to splash out on a new master cylinder.
When i press the pedal to the floor i do hear a slight hiss sound, the kind of noise thats hard to describe in writing hah.

This is a reply to the clutch prob from nikalele, not tcfengineering
baffled. it seems strange that theres such a gap between the operation rod from the pedal and the cylinder, its like the cylinder is stuck inside. is there supposed to be abit of free play inthe pedal?

Yes, firstly, the dowel pins wear (holes oval out) on the pedal, and creaty 'lost ymotion' down under the pedal boxy... trouble is, requires reamer etc and bigger pins, but very poow access down there. Aidan will tell you if you ask, how bad it is...

But I doubt that's all your problem, is any... I thinks you should check the slave and pipeworky, pipes have even been know to partially block for some reason, but don't meddle for fun only, as all the pipe parts are not easy to acquire for the clutch system, and there's a few different setups around too (still, am presuming watercooled not air, and later not early - hence asking - you must read the Warnings (required info) at the top of Tech Advice, about giving enough info for people to answer the questions, else we end up going around in circles :x )

Ok, rant over, continue.. :)

Also the, slave cylinder might not bleed that well... - try locking the clucth operating arm 'up' with a crowbar or something so there is no lost travel when bleeding. Give long full swipes on the pedal and lock nipple as operative reaches end of pedal swipe. Listen look for air.

Now, is it possible, the slave bracket is flexing moving under load, or even cracked? Is it possibel the operating arm inside the bell-housing is broken in some way (both have happened to me, but admittedly ona Syncro, probably with many more cluth op cycles)

Also, is it possibel the clutch is dragginmg (not releasing) due to misalignment, wear/seizure of the release bearing, or the centre-plate is breaking up..

Just asking..

Best Regards and good luck
