Just got back after 1951 kms driving. 'Spare' engine bought from Sonic23 and emergency fitted by Syncroandy last week performed flawlessly. Just some minor leccy issues but they didnt stop me having fun - alternator belt screeching at startup cos of large draw off leisure battery cos of big 2 way fridge full of beer and cheese; then loss of headlamps, blower, wipers and squirters at 23:20 last night, causing an unexpected sleepover in a quiet spot until dawn so I could continue onto ferry port. Probably a bad earth methinks for the latter, and a helpful suggestion from Harrymann how to fix the former. Have some vids and pics to post later once I find the camera (probably in the bottom of the laundry basket). Ireland bootiful! Was nice to be guests of Dave, Paul and Andrew, and lovely to be wined and dined by the French peeps with their communal attitute towards eating and drinking. Their yummy version of a Pisco Sour left me with a dull head for a couple of mornings.

Good to hear everybody had a good time, think Clive looks a bit worse for wear.

Although I hear he's making a good recovery now and starting to sit up!

Yup, all good, fed up (!)and put on enough weight over here to manage to drive on the ferry in a couple of hours time... 1350 miles since leaving home so far.

Been a fantastic tour of Ireland as well as the off-roading... some special vids to come as soon as... watch this space!

Whew, got home yesterday evening, after a superb but long trip. Thanks for the Irish crew for organising, and UK buddies for their great company on the road. The attendance of the French Syncro club give it a special character, and they were so generous with their food and drink ! After the Galway pay-and-play site I went off for another couple of days, going through the hills of Connemara and ending up at Achill Island, which are well worth a look. Hopefully a feew of my photos will be worth posting, but currently awaiting a fix of my laptop which got some water in the keyboard.

Back after 1635 miles - a great clockwise tour of the south and middle of Eire

Will put up a gallery and route of the circuit but for now..

Many thanks to Paul, Paddy and Dave and any others for organising and making it happen. Also for their welcome, hospitality and generosity throughout.

Also to Brendan of the Leinster 4x4 club for facilitating the first campsite and taking timeout to guide us on the first morning up the hills :ok

Very convivial 12 days thanks to the Irish organsisers, the French and English who came over...

Good to meet Sam & Lorcan - will post a video later of your bay 'off-roading' :) and Podsyb and mate who joined us Saturday evening.

Tried to post last night but computer crashed at work. Anyhow thanks to all who came over and hope everyone got home safe and sound with no problems Think Jean Claude is the last to leave on a ferry today. Thanks again to the French Syncro Club for their amazing generosity (all the wine cheese, 15 year old rums, liquors, and marinated fuits etc ) showing us how to camp with such style and class. Brendan from Leinster 4X4 for his support on the wicklow leg and to all the irish vans who showed their faces hopefully next time we will have a few more next time (yes there are plans to host another, may possibly make it a bi annual event we shall see).
Anyhow some pics am working on a video but editing suite crashed on phone so will do it on the laptop in the next few days lots of technical problems at the moment so can't access my pics will try and get some up in the next few hours but for now a few scenic pics
