Re: 1981 2lt cu engine electtronic ignition - advice please

Checked for hydraulic tappet failure as advised. No movement on rocker arms. Rotated engine/both valves opening/closing. No 3 plug firing and when engine running exhaust pipe from head to H/exchanger v/hot when touched with finger (ouch) so the odd sounding cylinder is working! When plug lead is pulled off exh note still seems no change. Also engine does start from cold - seems OK! Plugs look a bit rich. Had comp test at local garage and it was 100psi (60 first? gauge not in right!) on all cyl's. Whilst comp testing, mechanic accidentally broke off elec connector tag (male spade) on left carb auto choke housing! Walley. So I am now running with no choke on that carb after repositioning/rotating housing and checking choke is permanently off for now (warmer weather). Will need to replace choke housing sometime (anyone got a spare one for sale for a solex 34 PDSIT-2 (left hand carb)? As camper has not been used for 3+ years maybe rings are a bit gummy but might improve with use ? I am now thinking - just run camper and try to enjoy it for shows and short camping hols.
Also has anyone come across a metal cylinder type thing fitted in the main fuel line in engine bay (under air filter box), this might be something to do with now having to run on unleaded?
Thanks to all for the help/advice.
