Simon...I have to agree with you about low quality replacement parts in general.
There is a frightening trend towards cheap pattern parts and it is becoming increasingly dificult to source quality parts that have now gone 'obsolete'
It must be a ongoing battle for you to keep up with reliable quality parts suppliers.
What amazes me is that this stuff is allowed to be sold, in my niaveity I always assumed there were regulations and strict quality assurance procedures in place regarding the quality of after market parts, some of this stuff is actually dangerous like the chocolate wheel bearings often reported on this site.
Now I wouldn't want this to go the other way and all pattern stuff be banned but there does need to be some tightening up on quality, perhaps proof of origin and a list of approved manufacturers, perhaps part with tamper proof authentication labels. Something needs to be done!
It's not just the make of the parts, as there is loads of fake stuff out there stamped with branded logo's, there was even a batch of genuine/fake VW boxed and stamped brake pads in the system last year.
