Thay arent big. Mercedes E Class 7Jx15H2 ET35 I'll wager

Ther are 16" wheels, they catch the arches when I'm heading over speed bumps, nothing major. Also, I'm changing down to 3rd quite a lot and struggle to get past 60. What do you reckon they are worth if I flog them on fleebay with 1 spare wheel?

Hard to judge with A/T tyres on them etc..

18 mpg? You weren't doing a steady 60 then...do I see 225/75/16 on those. That's quite a big gear to pull for a flat 4, even a DJ. OK for a Tdi (or an R5 or V6 petrol )

Yep they are 225/75/16. I was running around brighton for a bit before the trip back so I imagine that drank alot, motorway cruising speed of about 56-60.
It seems to be running a bit better now though. Is 180-200 miles a tank about right?!

Should I look to lift the van a bit, if so what spacers and cost?! What about fitting a different box.

Oh and another thing, the heat temperature gauge only shows a very small increase, heaters blow warm air, but at 60mph it seems to go cold.

Sorry for the 101 questions, just trying to get my priorities on the van in the right order. I did warm in the previous post I was a novice (but keen to learn!)

bigger tyres than originally fitted means the speedo under reads so you actual milage will be greater - calibrate against a gps trip, the speedo will appear more accurate but the odomoter will be less accurate

I dunno, this new lot they own a syncro for five mins and all of a sudden they become fashionistas and bring morals into it Next thing they'll be telling us you can't wear flip flops and board shorts So is it morally wrong then to put a palllet on the back of a syncro Ian?

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open.

That was my thinking Aidan, but the speedo is now accurate with the bigger wheels, i.e 60mpg on the speedo is 60mph on the gps.

I have an exact trip of 185 miles today so will fill up before and after. I will have 6 spare wheels in the van and two hitch hikers so maybe a good indication of consumption for when the van is kitted out.

With regards to the roof rack, I had no idea it was for a splitty or a bay , I don't think any of my mates thought that as well.
IMO it serves a purpose, carrying a spare wheel, maybe water and storage space for when I pull up. Isn't the syncro supposed to be functional?
I know a full length roof rack would be better and maybe more syncro friendly, but for now, it can serve a purpose

Trying to explain to my Mum and every other person how the syncro differs from my 2wd T25 is getting on my nerves!

There are 4 different ET dimensions for that style of wheel from 34 to 41. They go from 6.5 to 7.5 inches width.

Thats because it's not exclusive to bays or split screen vans. I have a Mitsubishi roof rack, so has Jake, Russel, and that fella with a doka maybe they are "silly" too because they "belong" on another car.....

Don't be put off the syncronauts forum, some like to have their own ideas of what one would like one ones own van. It's when people copy everything you have done to your own one that it starts getting creepy.

Those Jap import roof racks like yours Jed are cool. Finding one in good condition is not easy anymore. I found a really good one over here that was black anodised but the guy wanted €300 for it and he was 200 miles away!

Like Jed says dont be put off what we say here ......
