Hi
Famous four do a very nice recovery bag for about £60.00. It has a kinetic rope, tow rope, 2 heavy shackles and gloves in a nice tough zipable bag.
Nice and compact.

Looks like I need to replace a CV gator.

Already have folding shovel and folding saw.

Quite like the look of the tow kit. May have to wait a week or two.

What's the deal with kinetic recovery ropes? I had been led to believe that they are a good way of ripping recovery eyes off a vehicle or straining transmissions? Could well be wrong, of course...

in the right circumstances they are just what you want, our front single tow eye's seem to cope, though I've fitted a second one to spread the load, Westy tow bars seem to be ok. So far touch wood no one has broken anything in a recovery situation, we don't generally get stuck that stupid, usually it'll be slightly beached whale job

I been having a read and a lot of people say the Kinetic ropes are dangerous. Can anyone recommend where to buy the correct rope I would need please. Including shackles etc.

I think once all your tow points are in good condition they should be ok (which is evryones responsibilty to have them that way ) and one is not too gung ho with the right foot.
One other major essesntial in my humble opinion is actually getting out of ones van and walking a route so you know what your getting in too and which line to use, something we are all guilty of forgetting about. This can often negate the need for recovery altogether.

A strap would be good. What is the minimum breaking strain I should get?
