Ayup matey......hows about a different tact altogether....TWO alternators!

Your 90amp as is...but then a second less powerful one wired seperately just for the big leisure....it might not be as difficult as it sounds and the smaller 45/65ah alternators are cheap and readily available.
This wouldn't introduce that much mechanical resistance when the battery is charged but would certainly offer a way of keeping everything seperate.

Hello Martin,

Yes, i've seen two alternators fitted on a ex military T25 and i would say its probably the best solution.

However, I want to be able to do this to the LT - and im not very familiar with that engine yet (touch wood ). And, it may not be a hard job for someone with a workshop - but for me it will be very hard.

I'll stick to the one alternator solution for now...
