quechua stuff is brilliant ......love it, wish they did one that attatches to the van, then i would defo have it .
errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr hakuna ..... neil have you managed to put that tent up yet or is it still in your garage ?

Outwell make quality camper awnings....sewn in ground sheets etc....not as quick to erect as a Kyham but as good if not better quality.

We used to a Traveller style awning, the burgundy one, we found that awful in the wind, the legs always bent, I think the older and now probably the newer ones were and are stronger. We also found it was very bulky to transport and store. We now have an Outdoor revolution Nomad 3, We find this pretty good for holidays, and a Quenchua pop up for weekends away.
As already mentioned, you need to work out what you need the awning for. In our first awning we didn't like fact that it had no windows and only had access to the front and one side. Our new awning has windows and doors options all round.
Another good point is if the inner tent ever was needed it only takes up the far end, leaving most of the awning free, the inner tent in the burgundy one we had took up half of the awning.
Hope you don't feel more confused. Enjoy which ever you decide.

I've seen that shape outwell as a tent, they seem to cope well in the wind. I also like the flat front, with the porchy bit.

WHS ^ Had a tunnel style before from JK and it ripped to bits every time there were strong winds, and the tunnel that attached to the van was never big enough to open the sliding door without ripping a hole in it. Oh and it was ruddy heavy! Kyham is easy enough for me to put up and take down on my own (not that I do of course )

I have a kyham & there are a couple of negatives; the bit that attaches to the van is prone to get ripped - It just seems the wrong size / position
and it is dark and gloomy inside even with the front up and the side with the netting up, this is the biggest reason I don't use mine very much - that said, I doubt I'll get rid of it because its a handy bit of kit to have (sorry colette!)

having had a royal traveler , navigator and a royal tunnel type
all are a royal pain in the a*** to put up hence i have and always will have a khyam

sold my kyham i just couldn`t stand having the van all enclosed. it really made the van dark and gloomy.

It'll be a huge bonus to get to our destination and be completely sorted and set up in ten minutes flat, no hassle. We were going to get either the Khyam or the Just Kampers old skool awning. Im glad we didnt. The quechua is such a brilliant design and concept.
Decathlon are doing them for 50 quid which is about half price. We ordered ours over the phone from the Stockport branch.Theres a 'new' model out soon which im informed is the same tent in a different colour. So get yourself a bargain!
Can you post a link up to that one, I cant fine one about half price? They do so many different ones?

Hi I got our Quechua Base Seconds from Decathlon in Stockport but theyre all out of them now. Ive since discovered that some people attach the top arch of the tent to the van roof with extra guy ropes. I cant see the point meself. There are quite a few of these on ebay though:

We have the Outwell Country road, with the carpet and inner tent. Love it, its exactly what we needed to give our wee one space to play about when the weathers bad or just more space for us.
Lamp standard not included. lol.

My feeling with awnings is that they shouldn't take as long as a tent to put up cos then I may as well have a tent. Khyam always put me off cos of price, but they are pretty cheap at the moment. Like the idea of not needing to get kids to hold a bit while I peg out, the kyham is easily out up by one person.
Very tempted. The outwell is lovely but I have 2 kids and a dog, so removable groundsheet is essential.

hi there from a fellow high top autosleeper owner. great vans,i had a royal drive away included with my van not sure whitch model but it has been brilliant even in high winds as it has two extra poles that run lenth ways for stability,mine also had a two berth bedroon to hang up if you wanted.it is quite heavy when all packed in its bag but dont know how this compares with other brands.
