No one has mentioned anti-roll bar bushes, yet. Would renewing those have much effect in this situation?

Yes, the arb bushes can help too...
Either VW or poly, I have poly'd my Doka arb and did notice a difference (you can't poly the knuckle rubbers)
A good spoiler will help
